Chocolate Covered Apples Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or your favorite variety)
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • Toppings for decoration (chopped nuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut, etc.)
Chocolate Covered Apples

Directions:

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Insert a wooden stick or skewer into the stem end of each apple, creating a handle.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  3. In a heatproof bowl, melt the chopped chocolate and coconut oil together. You can use a double boiler or microwave the mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until smooth.
  4. Once the chocolate is melted, hold each apple by the stick and dip it into the chocolate, rotating and allowing any excess chocolate to drip off.
  5. Hold the dipped apple over the bowl for a few seconds to let any excess chocolate drip off, then place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. While the chocolate is still wet, decorate the apples with your choice of toppings. You can roll them in chopped nuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut, or any other desired toppings.
  7. Repeat the dipping and decorating process for each apple.
  8. Place the baking sheet with the chocolate-covered apples in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate is set.
