Ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Directions:
- Place the granulated sugar in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir the sugar continuously with a heat-resistant spatula or wooden spoon as it begins to melt. Keep stirring until all the sugar has melted and turned into a smooth, amber-colored liquid. Be cautious, as melted sugar can become very hot.
- Once the sugar has completely melted, add the cubed butter to the saucepan. Stir continuously until the butter is fully melted and incorporated into the caramel.
- Gradually pour in the heavy cream while stirring. Be cautious, as the mixture may bubble up.
- Let the caramel sauce simmer for about 1-2 minutes, continuing to stir, until it thickens slightly.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
- Allow the caramel sauce to cool for a few minutes before transferring it to a heat-resistant container.
Serving:
Use this 6-Minute Caramel Sauce immediately as a drizzle over ice cream, cakes, pancakes, or any dessert of your choice. Alternatively, let it cool completely and use it as a delicious dip for fruits or pretzels.
