Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm water (around 110°F)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, and dry yeast. Mix well.
- Gradually add the warm water to the dry ingredients while mixing, forming a thick batter.
- Add the milk and melted butter to the mixture. Stir until well combined.
- Stir in the salt and gradually add the remaining 2 cups of flour, one cup at a time, until a dough begins to form.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Add more flour if the dough is too sticky.
- Grease a large, oven-safe skillet or baking pan with oil or butter.
- Shape the kneaded dough into a round or oval shape to fit the pan and place it in the greased pan.
- Cover the pan with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once the dough has risen, place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
